Nonfiction writing
When we unpack everything involved with crafting nonfiction writing, there are tons of opportunities for mini-lessons provided by the School Librarian. Here are a couple teaching points where I've inserted myself into writing workshop in the past. But really, the possibilities for partnership are endless.
- Photographs and illustrations provide valuable information in nonfiction sources
- Researchers pause to think about all the new information they are learning before writing it down
- Book titles help readers decide if they want to read a book
- Writers include a Learn More page to thank the authors and photographers for their work and to invite the reader to learn more about their topic
